Welcome to Georgetown

Georgetown features a unique blend of history, architecture, and community spirit. As the oldest part of the city, this neighborhood has been designated as a National Historic Landmark and is known for its elegant Federalist and Victorian style homes. On the west side of Georgetown stands the illustrious Georgetown University, its impressive Gothic architecture serving as a cornerstone of the neighborhood’s identity. Tree-canopied streets, cobblestone walks, hidden alleyways and footpaths create an idyllic backdrop for upscale shops and boutiques, exotic restaurants, quaint bookstores, and lively coffeehouses. Georgetown is also uniquely situated along the Potomac River and features a scenic board walk lined with restaurants offering waterfront dining that borders the Georgetown Waterfront Park National Park. Dumbarton Oaks and Tudor Place are popular cultural destinations. In the East Village of Georgetown, Rose Park adjoins Rock Creek Park and has a large athletic field, tennis/basketball courts and playground. In the West Village, Volta Park boasts the same courts plus an outdoor pool.
